The Criminology Department of Olivarez College Tagaytay successfully held the Level III Forensic Science Area Seminar-Workshop at the OCT Gymnasium with the theme “Embracing Innovation: Future-Proofing the 21st Century Academe-Industry Landscape.” Led by Ms. Divine Grace B. Bascugin, RCrim, and Mr. Romel Jr. Warque, RCrim, with the support of the Criminology Student Government (CSG) officers, the event featured JO1 Jake Calongcong as Guest of Honor, who delivered insightful lectures on Questioned Document Examination and Forensic Photography. Participants also engaged in hands-on exercises and a Forgery Detection and Document Comparison activity, applying learned techniques in document analysis. The program concluded with an Awarding Ceremony recognizing outstanding student performances. The seminar-workshop strengthened the participants’ forensic competence, accuracy, and analytical skills, preparing them for professional success in the field of criminology.

The partnership focuses on five key areas: Health and Wellness, Campus Safety, Research and Innovation, Environmental Care, and a Reading Program for Non-Readers. Through this initiative, both institutions aim to nurture well-rounded learners, advance research-based practices, and foster a supportive and eco-conscious learning environment.Together, Olivarez College Tagaytay and Malabag Elementary School continue to build stronger partnerships that champion education, well-being, and community empowerment.

With a remarkable 60.71% passing rate, the College surpassed the national passing rate of 51.45%, reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to academic excellence and professional preparation in the field of Criminal Justice Education.The achievement stands as a testament to the students’ perseverance, discipline, and unwavering determination qualities that have guided them through one of the most challenging milestones in their journey.

Olivarez College Tagaytay proudly led the research study titled “An Evaluation of the Sustainability and Role of the Kadiwa Center in Enhancing Urban Food Access and Farmer Empowerment in Tagaytay City. ” The study’s dissemination phase was presented during the 4th Tagaytay City Fresh Coalition Forum, co-organized by OCT, and attended by representatives from the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), World Vegetable Center, Fruits and Vegetable Research Institute, Hanoi, and ACIAR Philippines. This initiative reflects OCT’s steadfast commitment to promoting sustainable food systems, empowering farmers, and strengthening community resilience toward a more food-secure Tagaytay City.

Inno.Venta 2025 served as more than just a research exhibit—it was a dynamic convergence of innovation, technology, and enterprise, where pioneering ideas met real-world opportunities. The event highlighted how scientific research can evolve into sustainable business ventures that create tangible economic value.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and supported through its Program PROPEL, the two-day event brought together scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders in a collaborative exchange of ideas. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between research and commercialization, emphasizing the pivotal role of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and national development.

Olivarez College Tagaytay and Barangay San Jose have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Child Protection, Development, and Participation, strengthening their shared commitment to safeguard the rights, health, and education of every Batang San Jose. This partnership aims to foster a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for children to grow and thrive. OCT extends its gratitude to Barangay Captain Joey Desingaño and the Barangay Council for their trust and collaboration in advancing child-centered community programs.

Olivarez College Tagaytay’s BEED Department successfully held the Lakbay Bulilit Library Tour for children from Barangay San Jose Daycare Center and the Batang San Jose Child Protection Program, fostering curiosity and a love for reading among young learners. As part of the department’s Community Extension Service, the event featured storytelling, guided tours, and interactive learning activities. The College extends its heartfelt thanks to the BEED faculty, students, librarians, and volunteers whose dedication made the activity a success reflecting OCT’s enduring commitment to education, empowerment, and community service.

Olivarez College Tagaytay (OCT) officially opened the Academic Year 2025–2026 through a General Orientation held on June 24, 2025, at the OCT Convention Center. The welcomed incoming Grade 11 students and transferees, marking the start of their High School journey. Spearheaded by SHS Principal Ms. Clarence Castillo, the orientation introduced the attendees to the institution’s mission, vision, core values, and policies, emphasizing OCT’s dedication to academic excellence and holistic education.

Following the main program, a homeroom orientation was conducted in each classroom, allowing students to meet their advisers and classmates, as well as familiarize themselves with their subjects and schedules. The event served not only as a formal introduction to SHS life but also as a warm beginning, filled with excitement and hope for every new Olivarian ready to embark on a year of growth, learning, and achievement.

The much-awaited SciMaTech 2025 concluded with a resounding success at Olivarez College Tagaytay, bringing together students from all strands in a vibrant display of talent, creativity, and innovation. Held throughout the week, the event featured lively booths, engaging club day activities, and various competitions that showcased the Olivarians’ creativity. Organized by the Student Body Organization (SBO) in collaboration with the STEM Student Council (SSC) and the TVL Council, the culminating day honored the best performers in each contest.

Adding to the excitement, Grade 11 students proudly presented their Diorama Exhibits, with STEM Opal claiming the top spot. Recognition was also given to participants in the Banner Ramp and Quiz Bee competitions, where STEM Scorpius and STEM Capricorn took major awards for creativity and presentation. From interactive booths to friendly competitions, SciMaTech 2025 proved to be a celebration of passion and innovation, leaving every Olivarian inspired to keep pushing the boundaries of science, mathematics, and technology.

The PhilHealth YAKAP Caravan, held on October 6, 2025, at the Olivarez College Tagaytay Convention Center, successfully brought together PhilHealth representatives, partner medical institutions, employees, and students in promoting accessible healthcare and awareness of PhilHealth’s programs and benefits. Through informative lectures, consultations, and booths, participants gained valuable insights into public health coverage and proactive healthcare participation. The event highlighted OCT’s continued commitment to fostering a healthier, well-informed, and community-oriented Olivarian family.

The Olivarez College Tagaytay Student Leaders Forum 2025, held on September 30, 2025, at the OCT Convention Center, concluded as an inspiring and transformative event that showcased the excellence, collaboration, and service of student leaders. Highlighted by a powerful keynote address from Mr. Von Ordoña, who emphasized leadership rooted in passion, purpose, and integrity, the forum fostered teamwork, learning, and camaraderie among participants. The event stands as a testament to OCT’s commitment to developing responsible and visionary leaders dedicated to making a positive impact within and beyond the campus.

Celebrating culture and unity, the Buwan ng Wika 2025 festivities filled the OCT Gymnasium, Amphitheater, and Learning Commons on August 29, 2025, showcasing the importance of the Filipino language and heritage. Prior to the main event, activities such as “Dulang Panradyo,” “Child Protection Policy Seminar,” and “Tagisan ng Talino” took place on August 28, 2025, reflecting the school’s commitment to student participation and cultural appreciation.

The celebration featured events like “Translasing,” where students translated popular foreign songs into Filipino, “Sa Likod ng Telon: Dulang Panradyo,” a radio broadcasting face-off, and “Tagisan ng Talino” which showcased Filipino creativity. The Grade 11 Sabayang Pagbigkas became one of the most anticipated highlights, promoting unity and expression. In its entirety, all students, no matter what strand they belong to, have fully attended to the theme “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa.” As Olivarez College Tagaytay carries on with this, the pride and the written heritage will always live on.

The Storytelling Contest featured amazing tales that captivated the audience, while the Scavenger Hunt had teams solving clues and uncovering hidden gems. The day ended on a heartfelt note with powerful performances during the Spoken Word Poetry session. Day 2 was equally thrilling, starting with the Family Feud: National Book Week Edition, where teams showcased their literary knowledge in a fun and competitive trivia game. The Cosplay Contest brought book characters to life with stunning costumes and performances, culminating in a memorable awards ceremony that celebrated everyone’s achievements

The session provided essential information on semester requirements, graduation matters, upcoming events, and available college programs. Department heads from the College Department discussed the range of courses offered at OCT, while Senior High School Department heads led the orientation, offering a detailed overview of the second semester.

With graduation approaching, this seminar served as a roadmap for the final stretch of their academic journey, helping Grade 12 students prepare for their next steps at OCT.

Olivarez College Tagaytay celebrates the outstanding success of its newly registered nurses, who achieved an impressive 96.30% passing rate in the 2024 Nurse Licensure Examination. Out of 28 first-time takers, 27 passed, surpassing the national passing rate of 84.99%. This remarkable achievement highlights the dedication and excellence of the college’s nursing program. The entire Olivarez College community is proud of the accomplishments of these new nurses.

Olivarez College Tagaytay proudly hosted the 7th National Criminology, Forensic Science, and industrial Security Management Student Congress from November 25–27, 2024, under the powerful theme: "AENIGMA: Shaping Prodigies and Innovating Avenues in Pursuit of Justice." For three transformative days, participants experienced groundbreaking insights, dynamic cultural showcases, and unparalleled opportunities to redefine justice and innovation. The grand finale on November 27 was a triumphant celebration of passion, excellence, and the relentless pursuit of justice. This wasn’t just an event—it was a legacy in the making.

Together, we shaped prodigies, ignited change, and set new standards for the future.

The celebration showcased captivating events like Croquembouche Tower Display Making, Travel Photography, French Art Competition, Waiter's Relay, Battle of Pasta, Bed Making Competition, French Cocktail Mixing, a Fashion Show, and the Move n' Groove Dance Competition.

The HEELS-UP Project workshop united OC Tagaytay leaders and Barangay San Jose leaders in a meaningful collaboration aimed at fostering community growth. Guided by a shared vision for progress, the event highlighted teamwork and purposeful dialogue. This event was led by the College Dean Dr. Jean Rizza Dela Cruz, RN and the members of the Sangtularan Team from Olivarez College Tagaytay and Brgy. San Jose.

The IMS and Library Department, led by Ma’am Arline Dela Cruz, in partnership with the NSTP and General Education Department under Ma’am Myrene Dejan, successfully brought smiles to Brgy. San Jose through a heartwarming Gift-Giving Project. Together, we continue to live out the spirit of generosity and community care.

The Olivarian community celebrates an outstanding achievement as our graduates achieved a 100% passing rate in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers. This remarkable milestone reflects the hard work, commitment, and excellence of our newly licensed professional teachers. On December 16, 2023, the Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Department of OCT recently held a successful *Industry-Academe Dialogue*, bringing together industry partners, THM alumni, and the Student Council. The event served as a platform for meaningful collaboration, with participants working together to review the THM curriculum and recommend strategies to bridge gaps between academic training and industry demands. This initiative highlights the department’s commitment to aligning education with real-world expectations, ensuring the continued excellence of its graduates.

The Olivarian community proudly celebrates the achievement of Ms. Cheyeen Heart Javier, CMMS, for ranking Top 9 with an outstanding score of 92.92% in the CMMS online assessment conducted by CPACE Philippines. This remarkable accomplishment highlights her dedication and excellence, bringing pride to the institution and inspiring fellow students.

On December 13, 2024, the third-year BSN students (Batch 2026) of Olivarez College Tagaytay presented their study, "A Vision for the Future: Community Assessment and Diagnosis of Purok 158" at the OCT Amphitheater. Sharing their work with Level I, II, and IV students, they showcased their efforts in Community Organizing Participatory Action Research (COPAR), highlighting the community’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities through comprehensive data collection and analysis. Their dedication reflects the core values of nursing—compassion, knowledge, and service—proving they are health leaders in the making.

Decades Of Excellence

Olivarez College Tagaytay (OCT) recently celebrated its 20th Founding Anniversary with week-long activities and events that concluded with an awarding and closing program held at the OCT Gymnasium on March 16, 2024. The foundation week was a reflection of the school's past achievements and growth, while also looking forward to the future with hope and youth.

During the closing program, winners of different competitions were announced, including E-Games, Sportsfest, Cheerdance, and Overall Champions for the founding anniversary.

OCT Pushed Through Academic Year 2024-2025

Dr. Jean Rizza Dela Cruz, College Dean, opened the day by assuring the students of a quality education and improvements for the Olivarians. “What we can assure you is that this is a new opportunity for learning and growth," said Dr. Dela Cruz in her opening remarks.

“Rest assured that our faculty members and our members of the administration will be supporting you all the way, so we will be able to achieve your dreams and your goals in life," she added as she talked about the challenges that will be encountered along the student’s academic journey.

Moreover, a surprise was revealed in the orientation, as OCT’s classroom, laboratories, and other facilities are now fully equipped with air conditioning units.

In addition to welcoming the students, OCT held a raffle during the program to distribute merchandise such as tote bags and mugs, as well as cash prizes and a brand new laptop.

Discussion of policies, reminders, and guidance was also done by the respective heads of each department.

The said orientation was conducted in two batches: students from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Accounting Information System, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology held their orientation in the morning.

On the other hand, the second batch held theirs in the afternoon and consisted of students from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Elementary Education, as well as the students of Caregiving and Bread and Pastry Production (TESDA short courses).

Lastly, BS Information Technology was recognized and topped as the outstanding enrollment growth rate for the academic year, while BS Criminology remains the most populated program in OCT.

The awards ceremony, which took place at the Convention Center, was attended by excited families, esteemed faculty members, administrators, and honored guests. The commencement theme, "Demystifying Excellence in the Better Normal Landscape," signified a shift from traditional graduation ceremonies while remaining an enjoyable and significant experience.

Dr. Rommel Pilapil Sergio, a scholar and lecturer, delivered a moving speech emphasizing the need to embrace change for better achievement. His words profoundly impacted both the graduates and the audience, stressing the importance of intelligent visioning and adapting to the new normal.
